Hace un tiempo compartí un juego con ilustraciones de Mabel Lucie Attwell

Some time ago I shared a set with Mabel Lucie Attwell's illustrations

y les conté algo sobre esta famosa ilustradora británica

and told you something about this famous british illustrator

y hoy les muestro otro

and today I share another one

De nuevo aparecen los niñitos regordetes

Rosy-cheeked toddlers again

Cada plato tiene una ilustración y un verso

Each plate with an illustration and a verse

En el caso del plato playo, una nena con varios pájaros azules volando a su alrededor

The flat plate features a little girl with several small bluebirds fluttering around her

En el plato hondo, un nene y una nena en un carro tirado por un burro

The bowl, a boy and a girl driving a wagon pulled by a donkey

que lleva como pasajeros a los ya conocidos Boo-Boos mientras uno de ellos camina detrás con un farol

their passengers are six Boo-Boos and one of them is following them carrying a lantern

Y en la taza y su plato los nenes andan en bici con dos Boo-Boos y una coneja

And the teacup and saucer show them on a bicycle with two Boo-Boos and a rabbit

El juego es muy femenino, todas las piezas tienen un borde rosa

This is a very feminine set, all the pieces have their rim outlined in pale pink enamel 

y ni hablar de la manija de la taza...

and the handle...

Para las entusiastas de la vajilla, acá va el sello

Little Jack Horner

El pequeño Jack Horner

Se sentó en el rincón,

a comer un pastel de Navidad;

Él metió su pulgar,

Y sacó una ciruela,

Y dijo: «¡Qué buen chico que soy!"

El juego tiene tres platos y dos fuentes

The set includes three little plates and two trays

La historia cuenta que Richard Whiting, Obispo de Glastonbury, un pueblo en Somerset, Inglaterra, temía que Enrique VII expropiara los monasterios católicos y mandó a su mayordomo, Jack Horner, con documentos de propiedad de algunos de ellos esperando que esto puediera evitarlo

The story goes that Richard Whiting, Bishop of Glastonbury, a town in Somerset, England, was afraid that Henry VII would expropiate Catholic monasteries and sent his steward, Jack Horner, with title deeds of some of them hoping it could help to avoid it

Pero Jack Horner, en lugar de entregar todos esos documentos -que llevaba escondidos en la tarta- a Enrique VIII, sacó el más valioso, el del monasterio del señorío de Mells, que sería la ciruela que sacó de la torta.

The deeds had been secreted in a pie but, instead of giving them to the King, Little Jack Horner was said to have stolen the deeds to the manor of Mells, the real "plum" of the twelve manors

Richard Whiting fue acusado de alta traición, por no adherir a la iglesia anglicana y ejecutado en 1539 y Jack Horner se habría convertido en proprietario del Señorío de Mells.

Richard Whiting was convicted of treason and was found guilty and executed in 1539 and the Manor of Mells became the property of Jack Horner.

Now let's a close-up to the cup

y el plato (todo tuvo su emoción porque los encontré por separado...!)

and the saucer (I found them in different times, which makes it better indeed...!)

En esta otra taza y plato se lo ve caminando con la tarta en la mano y llevando el caballito de madera que tenía a su lado

Now another cup and plate where Little Jack is walking with his pie and pulling the rocking horse that stands by him in the previous one

Para las que les gusta la vajilla acá van las marcas, son ingleses los dos, el primer jueguito es Shell Ware

Primavera!....... Spring!

Y los viejos libros de lectura siempre le dedicaron alguna página

And school readers always dedicated some pages to it

El plato de este juego tiene una original forma de hoja

The plate has a singular shape, like a leaf

En la base el plato tiene como marca grabada únicamente "Brownfield" pero no pude encontrar más información sobre su posible fecha, alguien sabe algo más?

The plate has an incised backstamp that only says "Brownfield" but I couldn't find any information about its date, does anyone know anything more?

Pequeños esquiadores.... Kids skiing

Ya llega la primavera y no subí mi post sobre ski todavía. Bueno, igual parece que la temporada termina en setiembre así que estamos a tiempo

Spring is coming and I haven't published my ski post yet. Well, ski season here ends in september so we are just on time

Como habrán visto no es sobre moda. No, ella no luce las últimas tendencias en prendas para la nieve

As you have seen it's not about fashion. No, she is not wearing very fashionable ski clothing 

pero domina la técnica de los esquíes

but she has mastered skiing

Ya releyó varias veces esta revista, del año 1961 con todos los dibujos e indicaciones que vemos detrás de ella

She has reread this magazine from 1961 several times, with all the drawings and instructions we can see behind her

Ellos también prefieren los esquíes 

They prefer skis too

Ellos, en cambio, el trineo

They, however prefer a sled

Las dos son imágenes de este juego de cuatro platos

Both images are on this four plates set

Parece que son para niños muy educados, no sólo piden con buenos modales

They seem to be for very polite children, that not only ask with good manners

                                                       (Mummy, give me soup!)

sino que después se muestran muy agradecidos y cumplidos...

but thank a lot then...

(Yummy!)

(So tasty!)

Imagino que después de tanta actividad merecen una rica merienda

After such an active day they deserve a yummy snack

y algunos dulces

and some treats

Los chicos parecen muy divertidos

They seem to be enjoying a lot

pero si me preguntan a mí, suficiente de estos días fríos

but for me it's enough of these cold days

me quedo con el programa de playa de las chicas de la tetera

I prefer these teapot girls plan going to the beach
