Hoy compartimos...mi proyecto en naranja... my project in orange

Ya saben que "Hoy compartimos" es un grupo de bloggers que se junta todos los meses para postear un tema en común y desarrollarlo desde su perspectiva, y el de marzo es "Mi proyecto en naranja".
La verdad que el naranja no es precisamente uno de "mis" colores, definitivamente no diría, como Frank Sinatra, que es mi color preferido

You know that "Hoy compartimos" ("Today we share") gets together once a month to post on a specific topic, from a personal perspective of its own, and March's topic is "My project in orange".
Orange is not definitely one of "my" colors, I would not say, as Frank Sinatra, that it is my favorite color

Sin embargo, en una recorrida por toda la casa algunas cosas aparecieron, aunque la inspiración no terminaba de llegar...

However, after a tour through my house some orange things appeared, but not the complete inspiration...

Cuando lo comenté en familia, mis hijas mayores -seguramente con la mente ya en los planes de la noche- pensaron en el destornillador (ya saben, vodka, jugo de naranja, hielo...)

When I discussed it with family my older daughters -probably thinking about their plans for that night- suggested me a screwdriver (you know, vodka, orange juice, ice...) 

pero mi idea era preparar unos cupcakes al tono

but my plans were making some orange cupcakes 

 y no, definitivamente no era la onda

and not, definitively, that wasn't my style

y nuevamente volví a mis "Tazas y Cuentos". Y claro, "Oranges and Lemons" ("Naranjas y Limones") me pareció una buena idea

and I came back to my "Teacups and Stories". ("Tazas y Cuentos")  And "Oranges and Lemons" seemed like a good idea

Es una vieja rima tradicional inglesa que los chicos cantaban mientras jugaban poniéndose en fila y en parejas armando un puente tomándose de las manos para que pasen por debajo y "atrapando" a los que pasaban al cantar las últimas palabras de la canción, los que quedaban afuera

It's a traditional nursery rhyme that kids used to sing while filing in pairs and making an arch by two of the players raising their arms and, on the last word "catching" the pair of children that was passing through, who then were out

Terminando el post voy a tomar un té -de naranja, cuál si no?- y me doy cuenta que la taza que una de mis hijas hizo hace unos días con marcador indeleble hace juego perfectamente ya que la hizo en negro y....naranja!

I'm finishing up the post, so I'll drink a cup of tea -orange tea, which else today?- and I have just realized that the mug one of my daughters made some days ago using permanent marker matches perfectly today, black and...orange!

Huevos de Pascua y Decoupage.... Easter Eggs and Decoupage

Sí, hay muchos Huevos de Pascua para decorar en los blogs y en Pinterest, así que por qué no sumar los míos también?

Yes, there are many Easter Egg crafts all over blogs and Pinterest, so why not add mine too? 

Creo que no necesitan mucha explicación pero por si a alguna le sirve espiemos un poco lo que hice

I think they don't need much explanation but perhaps it helps to some of you so let's see what I did

Todo empezó con los simples huevos a los que les hice un pequeño agujero en cada uno de los extremos

It began with simple eggs, I pocked two holes in the bottom and the top of them

luego a soplar bastante hasta vaciarlos, un poco de agua para limpiarlos, soplar un poco más, hacer un rico omelette para la familia y después buscar las servilletas, la plasticola con un toque de agua y a pegar

then I blew out until they were empty, put them under the running water and blew again to clean them. I made a yummy omelette for my family and then took my paper napkins, glue with a bit of water and a brush

Algún cuento tenía que aparecer y el de hoy es uno muy querido por ser uno de los que más recuerdo de mi infancia, "El Huevo Encantado", escrito por Peggy Burrows (y traducido por María Laura Serrano)

A children's storybook had to appear and I chose one that I love a lot because it's from my childhood, "The Enchanted Egg", written by Peggy Burrows

Lots of memories of me as a little girl contemplating these beautiful illustrations by Elizabeth Webbe: the Duck, Mrs Robin and Dinky, the elf and this egg so romantically decorated

Pero claro, yo colecciono hueveras

But I collect egg-cups

así que imaginan que no puedo dejar pasar esta ocasión para sacar a lucir un poco a algunas de mis queridas bellezas

so I can't miss this opportunity to show off some of my beloved beauties

Me gusta adornar huevos de Pascua...tengo muchas más hueveras para compartir...creo que si me hago un rato voy a hacer algunos más. No quiero esperar hasta las próximas Pascuas!

I love egg crafts...I have many more egg-cups to share... I think if I take a time I'll make some more. I can't wait till next Easter!

Diseño Escandinavo- Desafío Blad..... Scandinavian Design- Blad Challenge

El primer desafío Blad de este año nos propone Diseño Escandinavo. Los que vienen visitando mi blog se preguntarán dónde hay un ambiente o un rincón escandinavo en mi casa. Yo también! Pero justamente ahí estaba el desafío entonces, y no me iba a echar atrás!
Así que pensé en una viñeta

First Blad challenge of the year is about Scandinavian Design. Those who have been visiting my blog may be wondering where is a scandinavian corner in my home. Me too! So that was the challenge then, and I couldn't give up!
And I tried to create a little vignette

Sabemos que tienen que predominar gris, madera y blanco

We know that grey, wood and white must predominate

y veo siempre en estos ambientes bastante protagonismo del negro

and black is also very important in this deco style

que me di cuenta está ausente casi en mis adornos y objetos, así que pinté una latita con pintura de pizarrón

but as I realized I have almost no black things por deco at home I painted a little tin with chalkboard paint

Un poco de textura con algo de arpillera y un pom pom hecho en unos minutos

Some texture with a piece of burlap and a pom pom I made in minutes

y sí, mi vajilla suele estar llena de flores y dibujos infantiles pero por suerte algunas hueveras reunían los requisitos para colarse en la foto

yes, my china is generally full of flowers or kid's images but fortunately some egg-cups meet the requirements to sneak into the picture

Me encanta ver tantos lindos ciervos en estas decoraciones pero me pareció que uno de nuestros caballos podía muy bien reemplazarlo, no?

I love watching so many lovely deer in these decos but I think one of our nice horses can fit very well too, don't you?

Definitivamente, una gama de colores totalmente distinta a la de mi casa y mis posts, pero un estilo que me encanta disfrutar mirando imágenes en blogs y en Pinterest

It's definitely such a different color palette from my home and my posts, but I love this style and enjoy it through blogs and Pinterest images

Al jardín!....... To the garden!

Tengo este mueble hace mucho. Pero las modas van cambiando y los gustos de uno también, no? Y ya no me gusta como me gustaba en ese momento. Pero sus estantes siempre vinieron bien para guardar libros y demás, así que fue cambiando varias veces de lugar y de contenido

I' ve had this piece of furniture for a long time. But decor trends change and our style too, don't it? And now I don't like it so much. But its shelves have been always very useful to keep books and other things, so it was moved through different places with different content

Pero decidí darle salida. No! Desprenderme no entraba en los planes. Le di salida... al jardín, a la galería, cerca de este rincón

But I decided to let it out. No! Getting rid of it was not in my plans. I let it go.... to the garden,  to my back porch, near this corner

Primero pinté la estructura de hierro de blanco ya que no quería que se destacara

First I painted its iron structure white, because I didn't want a contrast with the wall

¿Notaron que el cactus tiene unos pimpollos por abrir? Hace unos días disfruté la primera flor!

Can you see those little samplings in the cactus? I enjoyed its first flower last week!

Enseguida se fue llenando de macetas y tazas con plantas que se estaban acumulando en los bordes de las ventanas

It soon became full of pots and teacups with plants that were acumulating on windowsills

también me permite tener a mano mis herramientas de jardinería, que daban vueltas por ahí

and now I can have my gardening tools on hand

Hay lugar para un trébol de cuatro hojas

There's place for a four-leaf clover

y por supuesto un ayudante es siempre bienvenido

 and of course an assistant is always welcome

Abajo de todo hay tres ahumadores, se usan para echar humo a las abejas, ya que al producir una sensación de incendio se preparan para salvarse, dedicándose muchas de ellas a llenar el buche de miel y permiten trabajar entonces sin que se pongan agresivas

In the lower shelf there are three bee smokers, that create an opportunity for the beekeeper to open the beehive and work while the colony's defensive response is interrupted after blowing smoke. Smoke initiates a feeding response in anticipation of possible abandonment due tu fire and bees consume a lot of honey, making it difficult to sting. 

Si yo crío abejas? No! Sólo junto cosas que me gustan, algunas que ni se bien para qué sirven hasta que investigo un poco más...jaja

Are you wondering if I'm a beekeeper? No! I just gather things I like, even if I don't know exactly what are they for until I search a bit...LOL
