Hoy compartimos...algo que quiero transmitir...Something I want to transmit

"Hoy compartimos" ("Today we share") gets together once a month to post on a specific topic, from a personal perspective of its own, and February's topic is "I want to transmit".
The truth is that this time the tittle desoriented me a bit, transmit....transmit....transmit...I repeated to myself, and I began thinking in all the nursery rhymes that my children's cups and plates lead me to.

very old rhymes -from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries- had their origin in historical events and were composed for adults, who TRANSMITTED to their children and, as they loved them a lot this love has allowed them to survive from one generation to another.

I think there are not very well known here in Argentina, but the one I'm sharing today is more popular

pudieron a Humpty recomponer)

As always, different interpretations about its origin and meaning, some speak of a great cannon, named Humpty Dumpty, that was located, during the English Civil War, next to St Mary's church in the town of Colchester, who had a great wall. During the siege of this city this wall would haeve collapsed causing this great fall. Others told us it would refer to King Richard III, falling from his horse called "Wall" at the battle of Bosworth Field

Yes, images above were a bit shocking...but we must not dramatize it too much, he had some wounds but nothing that couldn't be solved with a bandaid

Humpty Dumpty  belongs to "Mother Goose", a collection of nursery rhymes, and a character in one of them and of course it appears in my plates and teacups!

also well known since he appeared in "Throug the looking glass" (1872), by Lewis Carroll

 (Google images)

In Spanish he is also known as Pepín Cascarón, Zanco Panco or Tentetieso

And, although I don't know too much about his presence in France, I think I have found him in this old book with so nice images, this Monsieur Coco must be our friend with Mother Goose, don't you think so?

I really love these illustrations. But I will tell you the truth, I love my children's ware even if the images are not my prefer ones or my style. Because all of them TRANSMIT to me that story behind the piece, that child that used if for dinner (or that watched it in the hutch because his mother didn't want him to break it).

Epero que les haya gustado. Hasta la próxima!

Hope you liked it. See you soon!

Niñas con sus muñecas..... Girls with their dolls

Vestirlas, peinarlas...

Girls have always liked to play with dolls.
Dress them, comb their hair...

(The obedient doll)
Convertirlas en alumnitas...

Teach them a lesson...

y también, pasearlas en sus carritos

and walk them in their strollers

The same image in a white and in a green cup, with a set of bowl, shallow and dessert plate

Y mientras la mayoría pasea su muñeca

And while most of them take their doll for a walk

O su osito

Or their teddy bear

Others are very bussy with a lot of children in charge

I have more plates and teacups to share, but that will be another day, now it's just that moment that every mother has been waiting after a tiring day

Espero que les haya gustado.
Hasta la próxima!

I hope you liked it.
See you soon!

Besos!

Viejas medidas de almacén... Old cup measures

This blog is always full of little animals, children, pastel colors... but today it's more serious and "masculine".
Because I'm not the only enthusiastic with collections here, and while I gather kid's teacups others gather old measure cups

They are very old, from times when liquids were sold by volume, and each one represents a different volume, which is generally engraved

(Double decilitre)

and they have different marks that certify that they have been tested for accuracy

There were different materials depending on the liquid they were going to handle, tin, pewter or copper

So far, this is the largest ono, half decalitre  (5 litres)

Acá con la más pequeña, un centilitro

Here with the tiniest one, one centilitre

I have also found a very old book, from late 19 th century, with all the explanations and illustrations

(Capacity measures)

I really love these measure cups but I can't finish this post without a more romantic touch (it's always so nice the combination of old containers with fresh flowers, isn't it?)

Espero que les haya gustado.
Hasta la próxima!
