Viejas medidas de almacén... Old cup measures

This blog is always full of little animals, children, pastel colors... but today it's more serious and "masculine".
Because I'm not the only enthusiastic with collections here, and while I gather kid's teacups others gather old measure cups

They are very old, from times when liquids were sold by volume, and each one represents a different volume, which is generally engraved

(Double decilitre)

and they have different marks that certify that they have been tested for accuracy

There were different materials depending on the liquid they were going to handle, tin, pewter or copper

So far, this is the largest ono, half decalitre  (5 litres)

Acá con la más pequeña, un centilitro

Here with the tiniest one, one centilitre

I have also found a very old book, from late 19 th century, with all the explanations and illustrations

(Capacity measures)

I really love these measure cups but I can't finish this post without a more romantic touch (it's always so nice the combination of old containers with fresh flowers, isn't it?)

Espero que les haya gustado.
Hasta la próxima!

I hope you liked it.
See you soon!

Besos!

  5. The collection of measuring cups is quite impressive! (And the seltzer bottles, too.) Your photos of them are art in themselves, and your flowers are beautiful! We just got eight inches of snow yesterday, so your post is a nice preview of summer. Enjoy, Silvina!

  13. Hello Silvina, I liked it very much, thank you for sharing! The flowers look beautiful arranged in the old measuring cups. I have a vague memory of my mum using something like this. I think she used them for measuring out flour – but I was very young and the memory is hazy.

Thanks so much for your kind words and visit to my blog. You have so much goodness here on yours! I really enjoyed seeing your Christmas decorated printer's tray. I had been debating buying one but now that I've seen what you did, I am totally inspired. I also love your decoupaged clothes pin - so very cute. You have much fabulousness here!

    Warmly,
