Primavera!....... Spring!

And school readers always dedicated some pages to it

Las niñas riegan con entusiasmo las flores

Girls water their flowers

Claro, pensamos en flores

Yes, we think of flowers

And also butterflies attracted by them

Not only these elves try to catch butterflies

The plate has a singular shape, like a leaf

The plate has an incised backstamp that only says "Brownfield" but I couldn't find any information about its date, does anyone know anything more?

Feliz primavera! O feliz otoño para otros!

Happy spring! Or happy fall for others!

  3. OH so fun! I love your posts and the way you pair up vintage dishes and books! They go so well together! Your collection delights me! This set here is totally sweet. I looked quickly at Brownfield china online, but it was hard to know where to start. Do you have any idea what country this china originates from? Any history to it that you know of?
    Hugs,
    Terri

  6. Wonderful china! I love the leaf shaped plate with the butterfly catchers. Brownfield...which I am guessing it is...is a Staffordshire, England company that I have had quite a bit of transferware from, especially Aesthetic Movement designs. They are actually W. Brownfield & Sons from Staffordshire who closed in 1891 and used the Brownfield impressed mark. You have a rare set, a trembleuse which was a shape also used for children...meaning "trembling" with the raised cup that the teacup fits in so it can't be easily knocked over. The design is like the Kate Greenaway designs, may even be by her, that date to the 1880s. A rare treasure! Thanks so much for sharing it and linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

  9. The first plate with the green border is so adorable! I think artist Mary Engelbreit fashioned many of her drawings of children after the artists who created these charming figures.
