Este chanchito fue al mercado...This little pig went to market...

… ¡Y este pícaro gordito se lo comió!

This is a fingerplay, in which you wiggle each finger or toe and at the end you tickle the child.
And it is similar to "Este dedito compró un huevito" in Spanish, something like this:

This little finger bought an egg
This one cooked it
This one salted it
This one tasted it
and this naughty fat one ate it up

So far I have a flat bowl and plate set

(Wood & Sons
Burslem    England)

And a two handle cup with its saucer. It's the same I shared with you speaking about "Hey, Diddle, Diddle"

(Woods Ivory Ware
England)

But a collector's life is not easy....no no no....
Let´s see some close ups, here is the pig that stayed at home

Acá el que come carne asada

Here the one who had roast beef

El que no come nada

Here the one who had none

Poor piggy who comes back home crying...

that appears in both sets

But.... I don't have the one who went to market... yet! That's why I said "so far"

Ellos no son los únicos cerditos famosos

They are not the only famous pigs

But I don't want to mix stories. These are not five but three.
And we will speak about them another day

  2. Hello Silvina,
I love this child's set you have! The art work is glorious! You must be so thrilled to have it. I looked up the backstamp in one of my collectors books and it shows your backstamp as being from 1930+ Does that seem right to you?
From now on, I am going to keep a look out for pieces like this for you. Who knows? I might just find some : )
    Hugs,
    Terri

    1. Thank you very much Terri! Yes, I had the same result when I looked up the backstamp in Kovels´ New Dictionary of Marks. How nice of you to do it! You must know a lot about this. But I don't understand why I couldn't find "Woods Ivory Ware", since I see that backstamp in many plates and cups.
      Besos!

      Gracias y besos!!
