Sube y Baja........ See Saw

Hace unos días, haciendo un comentario en el fantástico blog de Barbara, March House Books, me di cuenta que si bien los animales, los duendes y las hadas de la vajilla y los libros infantiles antiguos me encantan, las que sin duda me atrapan más son las ilustraciones de niños

Some days ago, while I was leaving a comment in Barbara's fantastic blog, March House Books, I realize that, even tough I love animals, elves and fairies that appear on old kid's dishes and storybooks, children's illustrations are definitely my favorites

esos niños con un vestuario que ahora nos parece muy formal

those children wearing clothes that look so formal nowadays

pero que, más allá de la moda, siempre disfrutaron juegos y diversiones

but, beyond fashion, always have enjoyed fun and games 

algunos jugando en el conocido sube y baja

some of them playing on a see saw 

en estos platos ingleses, hondo y playo

on these English flat plate and bowl

y en el caso de estas nenas en esta tacita alemana

and here some little girls in this german teacup 

Y como ya saben que la vajilla infantil antigua me fue llevando a conocer las viejas rimas inglesas

And as you already know vintage children's china led me to the nursery rhymes

Sube y baja, Margery Daw,

Jacky tendrá un nuevo patrón;

y va a tener sólo un centavo al día,

porque no puede trabajar más rápido

y aprendí que en inglés Sube y baja se dice "See Saw" que sería algo como "Veo Ví"

and I learned that what you call "See Saw" is what we call "Sube y Baja" which means something like "Up and Down"

Esta es una de las ilustraciones que más me gusta. Conseguí la taza sóla un día y hace poco por otro lado el plato térmico, de ésos para mantener caliente la comida llenando el recipiente con agua caliente como les conté y mostré ACÁ

This is one of my favorite illustrations. First I found the teacup and then in another place this hot water plate, one of those that were used to keep the baby food warm, as I shared  HERE

pero no sólo los niños se divierten con el sube y baja

but no only children enjoy and play on see saw

también algunos animales quisieron probar, en estos platos ingleses que parecería que fueron pintados a mano

but also some animals wanted to try, in these English plates that seem to be hand painted

Figurines en la Pared..... Fashion Sketches on the Wall

Antes y Después-  Desafío Blad        Before and After

Girando un poco hacia la izquierda cuando saqué las fotos de mi post anterior hubieran podido ver lo que hice en las paredes unas semanas atrás.

Turning to the left when I took my photos for my last post, you would have seen what I did with these walls some weeks ago

Sí, esto de llenar las paredes de páginas me está gustando. Ya lo hice hace un tiempo con un diccionario en una pared de mi cuarto y ahora ataqué el escritorio. Y, aunque es una foto que no me gusta mucho mostrar, acá va una del Antes

Yes, I'm enjoying this thing of filling walls with book pages. I did it a while ago with dictionary pages on my bedroom wall and now I attacked the home office. And even tough I don´t like to show this picture, here it is the Before

Son dos paredes al costado de una puerta que da a una terraza, lo que me complicó bastante sacar una foto pasable pero igual quería que tengan una idea

I did it on two walls beside the door to a terrace, which made very difficult to take a nice picture, but I wanted you to have an idea of the result

Como les conté al mostrarles la vieja máquina de coser, desde chiquita me fascinaron estas imágenes del sistema de Donato Delego de alta costura con el que tantas mujeres aprendieron a coser, entre ellas mi mamá. Las ilustraciones son de Angel Lagarrigue -otro importante diseñador de moda- y me resultan geniales

As I told you when I shared the old sewing machine, I was fascinated by these images since I was a little girl. They belong to Donato Delego sewing system and many women, including my Mom, learned with it. Illustrations are from Angel Lagarrigue -another fashion designer- and I think they are wonderful

No crean que arruiné el libro de mi mamá...jamás!!! Encontré uno igual que vendían por pocos pesos, olvidado y bastante arruinado

Please, don´t even think that I ruined my Mom´s book....never!!! I found another one for a few bucks, forgotten and a bit damaged...

así que sentí que le daba una nueva vida ocupando mis paredes que estaban tan aburridas

so I felt that I was giving it a new life filling my walls that were so boring

y también pinté los marcos de blanco

and I also painted the door frames in white

El libro incluye los moldes y detalladas indicaciones, que no parecen muy fáciles de seguir

The book includes sewing patterns and detailed instructions, that don´t seem so easy to follow

pero claro, si permiten hacer desde un pantalón...

but of course, they show how to make a pair of trousers...

hasta un tradicional e importante vestido de novia

up to a traditional and important wedding dress

La verdad que estos dibujos me encantan. Esas mujeres sin facciones pero tan expresivas

I really love these illustrations. Those women without facial features but so expressive

Alguna de ustedes se estará preguntando si todo este entusiasmo me hizo coser. Sí, tuve mis intentos hace muuuuuchos años. Ahora mi trabajo y mi profesión no me dejan tiempo para seguir sumando hobbies...

Some of you might be wondering if this esthusiasm made me sew. Yes, I tried maaany years ago. Now, my full time job and my profession don't leave me time for more hobbies...

Un Ambiente Romántico.... A Romantic Vignette

Sigo disfrutando hermosas imágenes en este libro y mis pastillas (sí, hoy en hermosa latita rosa, por supuesto)

I'll continue enjoying beautiful images of this bok and my mints (cute pink tin today, of course)
