Navidad.... Christmas

La falta de tiempo en estos últimos meses me tiene un poco lejos del blog y casi hace que no me dedique demasiado a mi decoración navideña.
Pero hay costumbres que están muy cerca de los afectos y de los recuerdos y no podía dejar de armar el arbolito, que es el mismo que compré hace 22 años, un par de días antes de esa Nochebuena en que a mi hija mayor le faltaban sólo 3 días para cumplir un año y me parecia que tenía que tenía que ver un arbolito en casa

Lack of time in recent months has me a bit away from my blog and it made me think I was not going to put up many Christmas decorations.
But there are rituals that are very close to the emotions and memories and the tree is one of them, that is the same I bought 22 years ago, a couple of days before my eldest daughter's first birthday

(was my carpet so ugly and I did not notice it?)

Ese año sólo hubo tiempo e idea para adornarlo con unas pocas manzanitas y moños pero con los años se fue llenando de colores.Este año decidí volver a dejarlo solo con adornos rojos

That first Christmas there was only time and imagination for a few apples and bows but over the years more ornaments and different colors were added. This year I decided to return to the idea of only red ornaments.

y ya que la segunda de mis hijas se compró hace unos días unas botas de lluvia rojas decidí sumarlas con unas ramas del jardín

and as my second daughter bought red rain boots just some days ago I added them too

Primero pensé en armar sólo el árbol pero claro, eso hacía que tuviera que bajar las cajas con los adornos y de a poco empezó la tentación, bueno....algún detalle más pensé... 

First I thought of putting up only the tree but for that I had to open the boxes and then I thought...well...only some touches...

y los cubos me recordaron el cajón de imprenta que armé hace un par de Navidades, y ya que estamos por qué no sacarlo...

and these cubes remind me the printer tray I did two Christmas ago 

y no dejemos afuera al pallet con decoupage del año pasado, así también ponemos algun toque navideño en la galería

and the decoupaged pallet from last year for some touches in the back porch

(por delante asoman los primeros tomates que tienen tan contenta a mi segunda hija con proyecto de huerta)

(these little tomatoes are the joy of my second daughter, her first ones)

Mi colección de platos y tazas infantiles se niega a quedar fuera así que sumamos algún detalle por ahí también

My children plates and teacups collection don't want to be left out so, some more touches there too

(Minnie y Mickey tienen siempre su lugar todas las navidades por acompañarnos desde que mis hijas grandes eran chiquitas, no importan cuestiones de estilo...)

(Minnie and Mickey have a place every Chirstmas since we have them since my daughters were little girls, no matter what style issues) 

(Es verdad, el Principito no tiene nada de navideño pero no me digan que con ese trajecito verde y moño y cinturón rojo no da bien los tonos)

 (I knowThe Little Prince has nothing to do with Christmas but don´t you think that with that green outfit and red belt and bow tie fit perfectly?)

Y en otro ejemplo de darle más importancia para esta deco al valor afectivo que a la estética en sí, cómo no dejar que mi hijo menor reemplace la clásica corona navideña que cuelgo todos los años en la puerta por ésto...

And in another example of giving more importance to the affective value of deco than aesthetics and style itself, why not let my younger son to replace the classic Christmas wreath I hang every year in the door with this...

Sigue alguna acá todavía sobreviviendo a tanta foto y rojo y verde?

Espero que hayan pasado una muy feliz Navidad y les deseo un 2015 donde se cumplan todos sus deseos. Uno de los mios es poder publicar más en mi blog y poder seguir visitando los blogs de ustedes que me encantan (y dejar más comentarios, sí!! se que estoy un poco silenciosa últimamente).

Palet Navideño...... Christmas Pallet

Todo empezó con este pallet que estaba desde hace un tiempo en el jardín, con pruebas de distintas pinturas

It all started with this pallet that has been in the garden for a while, with evidence of different sample paints

Como tirarlo no suele ser una opción para mí, lo primero que hice fue lijarlo

As throwing away is usually not an option for me the first thing I did was sanding it

y después empecé con mi.......sí! Decoupage!

and then I began with my.....yes! Decoupage!

se que estoy muy reiterativa. Prometo que es el último decoupage!

I know I'm very repetitive. I promise that this is the last decoupage!

bueno......al menos del 2013...

well....at least for 2013...

y como si faltaran adornos terminé haciendo otro arbolito

and as if it was not enough with all the stuff I have, I ended with another Christmas tree

Debajo de ese reno con mirada tierna sus colegas colaboran como base

Below that nostalgic reindeer his colleagues collaborate with the base

Masa de Sal...... Salt Dough

Parecía simple y fácil esto de la masa de sal y hace un tiempo que tenía ganas de hacerla. Supongo que la mayoría la conoce pero por las dudas acá van los sencillos ingredientes:  dos tazas de harina, una taza de sal fina y una taza de agua. Amasar bien y luego darle la forma que queremos. Yo lo hice con unos cortantes para galletitas

To make salt dough seemed simple and easy and I have been wanting to try it for a while. I guess most of you know how to do it but just in case here are the simple ingredients: two cups of flour, one cup of table salt and a cup of water. I mixed all, rolled it and cut with some cookie cutters

(sí, la foto es simbólica, con la masa que me quedó y que guardo en la heladera, las "reales" eran cuando hice todo, a la noche, horribles, créanme)

(yes, the photo is symbolic with some dough left over that I keep in the fridge, the "real ones", when I did it, at night, really horrible, believe me)

Pueden dejarse secar al aire libre -pero tarda bastante- o al horno. Como al segundo dia seguían húmedas las puse un buen rato en el horno bien bajo y así quedaron

You can air dry them or use the oven. After two days I found them a bit wet yet so I put them into the oven (low) for a couple of hours and here they are 

Pero saben que mis servilletas de decoupage siempre están al ataque acá así que les di un toque

But you know my paper napkins are always ready to "attack" so I gave them a touch

Algunos los usé para adornar unos frascos

I used some of them to embelish some jars
