Otro Lugar para mis Platos......Another Place for my Plates

Siempre estoy pensando en lugares donde ubicar mis queridos platos infantiles. No sólo porque ya no entran en mis muebles, sino porque me gusta que estén a la vista y disfrutarlos. Y se me ocurrió que con estos restos de espuma de poliuretano que le sobraron a mi esposo podía llegar a hacer algo

I'm always thinking where to put my beloved children's plates. Not only because I have no more room in the cabinets but because I like to see them every day. I had some leftovers of polyurethane foam that my hubby had used and I thought I could do something with it

Corté un rectángulo y lo cubrí con fotocopias de libros infantiles antiguos

I cut a rectangle and covered it with photocopies of some old children's books

para la que no conoce cómo es, imagénese algo así como telgopor pero mucho más firme y compacto, así que haciendo un poco de fuerza, y luego de unos cortes con cuter fui "hundiendo" los platos

for those who don't know this product, imagine something similar to styrofoam but more firm and compact, so with a little strength, and after a few cuts with a cuter I began to "sink" the plates

acá se ve mejor los cortes que hice del lado de arriba

Al ver que el sistema funcionaba y los platos se mantenían firmes hice otro, pero esta vez usé hojas de un diccionario viejo para hacerlo un poco más "serio"

When I saw the system was ok I made another one, but this time with some old dictionary pages, to make it more "serious"

La verdad que para mí el costo fue casi cero. Espero que el poliuretano no sea muy caro

The truth is that for me cost was almost zero. I hope polyurethane is not very expensive

a ver si no cumplo con la consigna de frugalidad!

imagine if I don't fulfill the requirement of frugality!

Ordenando con Música..... Tidying Up with Music

Aunque la idea era entrar a casa al volver del trabajo y encontrar algo parecido a ésto

Although I wished that when coming back from work my home looked like this

casi siempre me encontraba con ésto

I usually found something like this

tratando de encontrar una solución compré unos cubos de esos que se arman fácilmente y para darle un poco de onda les pegué partituras antiguas

so trying to find a solution I bought some cubes, those that are easily assembled, and to give them a more personal touch I glue some sheet music on them

mucha música por dentro

a lot of music inside them

y las portadas que me parecen fantásticas con tanto detalle

and those covers that look fantastic with all the details

Les pedí a mis hijos que en lugar de tirar todo al llegar tan "alegremente"

I've asked my children not to dump their belongings when they come home (in Spanish I say they do it "alegremente" wich means lightly)

y que colaboren con el orden. Por supuesto! Se los pido siempre de muy buen modo...

but to colaborate to maintain things tidy. Of course! I always do it with sweet manners...

Los puse a la derecha de la puerta

I put them beside the entrance door, to the right

y también colgamos arriba un perchero sólo para ellos

and we also hung up a coat rack just for them

lo que nos permitió recordar cómo era éste -abajo de la pila de ropa- y rescatarlo para nosotros

what allowed us to rediscover this one, under that pile of clothes, and rescue it  

Y al ver que todos tenían lugar asignado para colgar sus cosas también Ella quiso colgar su collar fucsia con huesito de strass

And then, when She realized that everyone had a place to hang their things, she also wanted one for her fuchsia dog collar with a strass bone

Y a ella no le puedo decir que no, siempre presente mientras saco las fotos para el blog

And I can't deny her anything, she's always there when I take these photos

Baby's Plate y Recuerdos de la Realeza...... Baby's Plate and Royal Commemorative

Hoy voy a mostrarles unos platos infantiles muy originales y muy antiguos

Today I'll share some very old and singular deep bowls

tienen un borde alto que permitía mantener la temperatura de la comida del bebé y un dibujo en el centro

they have a rolled edge that keeps the baby food warm and an illustration inside

La mayoría de ellos tiene la leyenda "Baby's Plate" (Plato de bebé) y algún cuento tradicional

Most of them are marked "Baby's Plate" and are illustrated with nursery rhymes

como el de Sing a Song of Sixpence, del que ya hablé ACÁ

o This is the House that Jack Built (Esta es la casa que Jack construyó)

or This is the House that Jack Built

y también el de Little Bo Peep (La Pastorcita)

and also Little Bo Peep 

que es un poco distinto a los demás en cuanto a su forma, más ovalada. Acá lo pongo al lado de otro para que se vea la diferencia

it's a little different from the others in terms of shape, more oval. Here I put it side by side with another one so you can appreciate the difference

Y para terminar -ya que todos estos platos son ingleses-, uno celebrando la coronación del rey Jorge VI y la reina Isabel que tuvo lugar en la Abadía de Westminster, Londres, el 12 de Mayo de 1937

And at last -as all of them are English plates- one commemorating the coronation of George VI and his wife Elizabeth as king and queen, that took place at Westminster Abbey, London, on 12 May 1937

que me recuerda este souvenir del casamiento de Diana con el príncipe Guillermo el 29 de Julio de 1981 en la Catedral de St Paul

that reminds me this commemoration of Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana wedding, that took place on 29 July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral

Pero yo comparto acá vajilla infantil y me parece que me fui de rubro....Oops! creo que esto no es para niños...

But here I always share my children's ware with you and I think I'm going off topic...Oops! I think this is not for kids...
