Little Miss Muffet

Como pasa con todas las antiguas rimas tradicionales, hay distintas posibles interpretaciones. Algunos atribuyen el origen de ésta al Dr. Thomas Muffet (1553-1604), un entomólogo que escribió el primer catálogo científico de insectos británicos y explican que fue escrrita para su hija Patience  

As it happens with all the other nursery rhymes, there are some possible hidden meanings. Some attribute the origin of this one to Dr. Thomas Muffet (1553-1604), an entomologist who wrote the first scientific catalogue of British native insects and explain the poem was written for his daughter Patience 

La Señorita Muffet

sentada en un banquito

comía su queso con suero

Vino una gran araña

y se sentó a su lado,

y asustó a la pequeña Muffet

Otros creen que Little Miss Muffet y la araña simbolizan a la Reina María de Escocia (1542-1587) y John Knox (1505-1572) un ministro que habría querido asustarla debido a las diferencias religiosas

Others believe that Little Miss Muffet and the spider symbolize Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587) and John Knox (1505-1572) a minister who wanted to scare her off the throne due to religious differences.

Hasta ahora tengo un sólo plato con la asustada Muffet pero por supuesto espero encontrar alguno más

Until now I have only one plate with Muffet frightened but of course I hope to find some more soon

Durante la búsqueda se sumó otra variante Muffet

And looking for some more this different Muffet came home

Ya que aunque no diga nada, esa niña sobre un banquito con una araña tiene que ser ella, no? Y también se me cruzó en el camino una Muffet velador....bueno, dos en realidad, ya que cuando encontré la segunda no me acordaba si tenía la primera o si sólo la recordaba por haber visto en otro lado -arriesgarme a perderla?... jamás! :) -

Because, although she has no mark at all she must be Muffet, don't you think so? And I also found this bedside lamp...well, two actually, because when I found the second one I could not remember if I already had the first or only remembered it for having seen elsewhere -taking the risk of losing it? ... never! :) -

Como siempre, esta  búsqueda recién empieza!

Primero fue la gran satisfacción de pensar y llevar a cabo mi nueva/vieja cocina, luego llegó el momento de disfrutarla día a día

happiness is even better!! 
First, the great satisfaction imagining my new/old kitchen, then it was time to enjoy it every day

y después llegó algo que ni se me ocurrió en ese momento...la satisfacción y alegría de compartirla en este blog con ustedes y ahora en una revista que sigo hace muchos años

and then something that had not occurred to me at that time ... the satisfaction and joy to share it in this blog with you and now in a magazine I have been following for a long time

La colección empieza con un grupo de objetos del mismo rubro

The collection begins with a group of objects of the same category

Y sí, a veces se trata simplemente de objetos que nos gusta contemplar

Yes, sometimes it's all about simply objects that we like to watch

también puede convertirse en una buena opción cuando llega alguna fecha para hacer un regalo a alguien difícil para comprarle...

It can also become a good option when you are looking for a gift for someone so difficult to buy for...

La colección nos lleva a conocer más sobre el pasado, cuando los líquidos se vendían sueltos y se medían y pesaban delante del cliente al no venir envasados todavía

The collection takes us to learn more about the past, when liquids were sold by volume and measured  in front of the customer because they were not packaged before

cuando los comercios regalaban abanicos de papel con sus datos atrás como propaganda

when stores gave away paper fans with their data on the back as propaganda

épocas de un Libro de Lectura para cada grado que se leía durante todo el año

times when there was one School Reader for each grade and pupils read it along all the year

otras veces la colección nos lleva a aprender otros idiomas: huevera, egg cup, coquetier, portauovo, eierbecher...

para el que tiene este "gen coleccionista" sólo ver una foto en una revista puede ser el inicio de otra colección

porque otro atractivo de la colección es también ir conociendo más sobre cada hallazgo y ahí es donde nos termina llevando, sin darnos cuenta a ...otra colección

because another attraction of the collection is also getting to know more about each treasure and that's where it leds , without even realizing it, to another collection ...

Coleccionar es una búsqueda, una búsqueda que nunca puede ser completa

Collecting is much like a quest, a quest which can never be complete

Y sí, por qué no admitirlo, es muy probable que haya algún ingrediente un tanto obsesivo...

Yes, why not admit it, it must be a little obsessive element in all this...

pero para qué buscarle más explicación, mejor seguir disfrutándolas y coleccionar...colecciones!

but why should I look for further explanation, I think it's a better idea to continue enjoying them and collect...collections!

Y como me atrapa conocer otras colecciones también ya voy a visitar a mis compañeras de quedada, a ver qué sorpresas me esperan (espero no tentarme con copiar alguna...)

And as I love other collections too I'm going to visit my blogger friends and see what surprises are waiting for me (hopefully not tempting with any of them ...)

Recortando Frases..... Cutting Quotes

Suelo guardar las bolsas de papel que nos dan en los negocios. Así que justamente no iba a tirar éstas, de alguna compra de ropa, llenas de palabras y lindas frases por dentro

I usually keep the paper bags we are given when we buy something. So I was not just going to throw away these ones, from a clothing store, full of words and phrases inside

Cuando las leí me di cuenta de que eran lindas frases, de esas que me gustaría que mis hijas tengan presentes y entonces qué mejor que hacerles unos cuadritos para ellas. Y ya que me arreglé con lo que recorté de las bolsas y con algunos portarretratos que tenía me pareció una idea para participar en el Finde Frugal de Marcela, de Colorín Colorado

When I read them I realized they were nice quotes, those that I would like my daughters to keep in mind, so I decided to make some little pictures for them. And since I made them cutting paper bags and some frames I already had I think it's a good idea to join Frugal Weekend of Marcela, from Colorín Colorado

Algunos los pinté de blanco y como fondo usé páginas de revista y partituras viejas

I painted some of them in white and use some old magazines pages and sheets of music

y para no descuidar mi vicio un toque de decoupage con recortes de servilletas de papel en el marco

and, continuing with my addiction, a touch of decoupage with paper napkins

o sobre el fondo

"Viví tus sueños y lucí tu pasión"

"La gente más feliz no tiene lo mejor de todo, ellos sólo hacen lo mejor con todo lo que tienen"

ésta, inspirada en el vehículo con el que se traslada todo el tiempo una de ellas

La última, con fondo de arpillera y un detalle de puntilla

The last one, with burlap and a bit of lace

"Hacé que las cosas sucedan"

Todavía no se los dí. Espero que les gusten.
Y que se pongan de acuerdo con cuáles se queda cada una...

I have not given they to them. I hope they like them.
And I hope they get an agreement about how to share them out...
