Hey, Diddle, Diddle...

Mis tazas y platos infantiles me fueron acercando a las rimas tradicionales inglesas

My children's cups and plates led me to nursery rhymes 

HEY, DIDDLE, DIDDLE,

Hey, diddle, diddle, el gato y el violín,

La vaca saltó sobre la luna,

El pequeño perro se echó a reír al ver tal deporte,

mientras el plato se fugó con la cuchara

 Como en muchas rimas tradicionales hay numerosas versiones que hablan de distintos significados secretos, pero nunca se podrá saber con seguridad porque surgieron como tradición oral

Many nursery rhymes are considered to have hidden meanings, but no one is certain because they were originally an oral tradition

Las principales versiones se refieren a la reina Isabel I y a distintos personajes de su corte. Y hasta algunos sostienen que el plato y la cuchara eran dos sirvientes que se enamoraron en secreto y tuvieron que escapar.

Sin embargo, muchos opinan que se trata simplemente de palabras sin sentido representando acciones imposibles de realizar y que resultan divertidas para la imaginación los chicos

One of the most popular explanations refers to Queen Elizabeth I of England and diferent members of the court. And even some argue that the dish and the spoon represented two servants that fell in love and secretly ran away from the court.

However, most people think that they are simple nonsense words about impossible actions that are amusing for children's imagination

Cuando les mostré "Había una vez una anciana que vivía en un zapato" vimos que sobre el costado izquierdo de los platos aparecían varios de estos cuentos tradicionales

When I shared "There was an old woman who lived in a shoe" with you, we noticed that on the left side of the plates there were many illustrations from different stories

Y por suerte encontré también otra pieza para mi colección, esta vez un tazón con dos manijas

And fortunately I've found one more piece for my collection, a cup with two handles

Y si bien los gatos, vacas y perros varían un poco en cada uno de ellos, lo que más me divierte es ver las distintas versiones del plato escapando con la cuchara

And, while cats and dogs have little differences in each version, what I enjoy most is looking to this cute couple of dish and spoon

Y miren lo que encontré en un viejo libro de cuentos en francés

No es exacto el texto pero sí aparecen todos los personajes. Parece que acá la vaca y el gato tienen nombre y todo

See what i have found in an old french storybook.
The text is not the same but there they are, all the same characters. It seems that the cow and the cat even have their own name here
